Chimpanzee
ENDANGERED
Their population is descreasing. The major threats are poaching, habitat loss/degradation, and disease.
They are from Africa. The subspecies, Western Chimpanzee, is critically endangered.
Fun Facts:
1) 🧠 Chimpanzees are one of our closest living relatives.
They share about 98–99% of their DNA with humans, making them one of the closest relatives we have in the animal kingdom.
2) 🛠️ Chimpanzees make and use tools.
They strip leaves off twigs to create "fishing sticks" that pull termites out of their mounds. They also use rocks to crack open hard nuts.
3) 🌙 They build a new bed every single night.
Instead of sleeping in the same place, chimpanzees weave branches and leaves into a comfortable nest high in the trees before going to sleep.

Giant Panda
VULNERABLE
Their population is increasing, but they are still considered Vulnerable. The major threats are habitat loss and fragmentation, which can isolate panda populations and reduce access to bamboo.
They are native to the mountain forests of central China. Giant Pandas depend heavily on bamboo forests for both food and shelter.
Fun Facts:
1)🎋 Giant Pandas spend most of their day eating.
They can spend 10–16 hours a day eating bamboo and may consume 20–40 pounds or more each day.
2)🐾 They have a special “thumb” for holding bamboo.
It isn't a true thumb—it is actually an enlarged wrist bone that helps them grip and manipulate bamboo while they eat.
3)🐼 Giant Panda babies are incredibly tiny.
Newborn pandas weigh only about 3–5 ounces and are pink, nearly hairless, and blind. Their mother can be around 900 times heavier than her newborn cub!
